Physical Examination for Students and Staff according to § 14 Biostoffverordnung

According to § 10 Biostoffverordnung, students in biological courses as well as staff working in laboratories where biological materials are handled have to undergo a physical exam at the medical department before being allowed to work with biological materials.
Please adhere to the following regulations/procedures to avoid potential problems:
A) Students
At the beginning of advanced studies (5th semester), students in the following courses have to obtain an application form for the physical examination, have it completed and signed by a supervisor (one of the professors teaching practical courses):
a) Biology, if you specialize in
- Biochemistry
- Genetics
- Microbiology
- Molecular Biologie
- Applied Microbiology
- Biotechnology
- Animal Physiology
b) Human Biology, if you specialize in
- Biochemistry
- Molecular Biology
- Immunology
- Microbiology
- Virology
- Pharmacology
- Functional Morphology
- Physiology
c) Biochemistry, if you specialize in
- Genetics
- Microbiology
- Molecular Biology
- Applied Microbiology
- Biotechnology
- Animal Physiology
Graduate students planning to work with biological material have to undergo this examination as well. Please contact your supervisor for details.
The application form can be obtained from the homepage of the Faculty for Mathematics and Natural Sciences (Formular). Once you have the signed application ready, please contact the responsible physician at the Medical Department (Frau Dr. Rutscher, betriebsarztuni-greifswaldde).
B) Staff
The director of each institute in the Department of Biology is responsible for making sure that scientific and non-scientific personnel who is going to work with biological material are physically examined by the responsible physician in the Medical Department before they start working with biological material.
