Travelling by train

The main building of the university is in walking distance of the train station. Travelling by train is therefore the easiest way to get to the University of Greifswald. The "Department of Molecular Genetics and Infection Biology" is located in the Center for Functional Genomics (C_FunGene) at the natural science campus at Felix-Hausdorff-Str. 8, about 2.5 km from the train station. All trains starting from Berlin to Greifswald depart from the stations Berlin-Hauptbahnhof and Berlin-Gesundbrunnen.

The journey to Greifswald takes about 2.5 hours. Every hour there is a connection to Greifswald. The last train from Berlin-Hauptbahnhof to Greifswald departs at about 20:10.

Fare (one-way/without discounts): from 27 €

The journey from Hamburg to Greifswald takes around 4 to 5 hours. There are regular connections. The last train from Hamburg leaves at about 18:20. As there is no direct connection, you have to change trains either in Stralsund or in Lübeck and Rostock.

The journey from Rostock to Greifswald takes around 1.5 hours. There are regular hourly connections. The last train to Greifswald leaves about 21:00.

Travelling by car

The driving time from Berlin to Greifswald is about 2 to 3 hours. 

  • either via B96 Oranienburg / Neubrandenburg, direction Greifswald
  • or A11 to Prenzlau and then A20 to Greifswald

The driving time from Hamburg to Greifswald is also about 2 to 3 hours. 

  • A1 direction Lübeck, A20 to Hanseatic City of Greifswald

Parking is available right next to the building.

Reaching the Institute

The best way to reach Felix-Hausdorff-Straße is via Anklamer or Wolgaster Straße. In both cases, please turn first into Walther-Rathenau-Straße and then Friedrich-Ludwig-Jahn-Straße. From there you can reach Felix-Hausdorff-Straße. Both Wolgaster and Anklamer Straße can be reached directly from the centrally located "Europakreuzung" at the theatre.
