Infections with pathogens cause over 25% of global deaths. The research group investigates molecular mechanisms of bacterial infections and mechanisms of the immune defense against Gram-positive bacteria.

Siemens Group: Infectious Diseases

We are studying respiratory and tissue infections by single pathogenic agents and in combination, specifically focusing on the mechanisms of pathology, immunology, and development of animal and in vitro models for identification of disease signatures.

Schüller Group: Physiology of Yeasts

The group is dealing with the transcriptional regulation of structural genes of the phospholipid biosynthesis and the carbon source-dependent expression of gluconeogenetic structural genes in the yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae.
